From 15th March to 30th June 2008, The Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais provides a fascinating insight into Marie Antoinette’s strong and complex personality through this exhibition of nearly 300 works from all over Europe. Learn more From 20th February to 20th July 2008, the Vlaminck exhibition at Musée du Luxembourg brings together works of the period 1900-1915, from Maurice de Vlaminck’s (1876-1958) earliest known paintings - Vlaminck’s career started when he was 17, but none of his juvenalia has been preserved - in which he already asserted his characteristic violence, down to the works produced at the beginning of the First World War, which reflect his contemporary research on the rendering of space.Learn more After two thematic exhibitions, the Museum of Centre Pompidou will be showing its masterpieces as part of two new chronological presentations, occupying once again all of the 4th and 5th floors. The modern collections – over 1,300 works, more than 500 periodicals, in a denser and more diversified itinerary to highlight the artists and the works of the first half of the 20th century, and to present the museum's latest acquisitions in the field, followed by the contemporary collections. Learn moreFrom 5th March to 2nd June 2008, the Centre Pompidou will be presenting the first extensive retrospective showcasing Louise Bourgeois' work since the exhibition that the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris held in 1995. This retrospective has been organised with the London Tate Modern and will feature around 200 sculptures, paintings, drawings and engravings she produced between 1940 and 2007, with a special focus on the past decade and this 95-year-old artist's knack for relentlessly rejuvenating her artistic language.
